Yes, both cottages offer fully self-contained accommodation. We take great pride in ensuring our guests can simply arrive and relax, knowing they have everything they need for cooking, dining and entertaining.

Your cottage will contain cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware, essential toiletries and cleaning products for your use. We aim to take care of the details, to make your stay as easy and care-free as possible – so feel free to put those wine glasses and cheese platters to good use!

At Curious Cottages, we want you to completely relax during your holiday. Therefore, all cleaning will only be completed after you’ve vacated the premises, rather than interrupting your stay.

Your accommodation will contain fresh, professionally cleaned towels and bed linen. Please note that towels and bed linen will not be changed each day – each cottage contains a modern washing machine and dryer for your convenience and free use.

After each booking, spas are cleaned with professional products to ensure the highest of standards.

We are happy to offer guests pet-friendly holiday accommodation for well-behaved pets at our securely fenced Licorice Cottage. Please note that pets cannot be accommodated for at Peppermint Cottage, as it is unfenced.
You can travel to Macleay Island via passenger ferry (without your car) or vehicle barge (with your car). Both the ferry and barge depart from Redland Bay ferry terminal, located at Banana Street, Redland Bay.

For passenger ferry times and prices, view the Bay Islands Info ferry planner or use the Translink app for iPhones. Simply use your GoCard on the passenger ferry, swiping on and off as you usually do.

If you’re bringing your car over to the island, you’ll need to book the vehicle barge – you can view timetables and book online with Stradbroke Ferries.

Modern, comfortable passenger ferries to Macleay Island run approximately every 30 minutes between 5:00am and midnight (10:30pm Sunday – Thursday), departing from the Redland Bay ferry terminal.

Passenger ferries are also available from Macleay Island to the surrounding islands, giving you the perfect opportunity to explore and enjoy Moreton Bay’s surrounding beauty.

Inter-island travel is completely free for all passengers!

Redland Bay, your access point for Macleay Island, is just a 45-minute drive from Brisbane CBD or 60 minutes from the Gold Coast. The passenger ferry will then take between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both Curious Cottages are an easy 5-minute drive from the Macleay Island ferry terminal.

Once on the island, you can make use of Macleay Island Taxi Service to get around – simply call 0418 734 741.
An airport transfer service between Brisbane airport and Redland Bay ferry terminal is available with Bay-Air Airport Shuttle Services. Call 0422 691 971 for more information.

Yes, there are 2 small-sized supermarkets on the island both a SPAR and 5-Star supermarket. You will also find local bakeries, coffee shops, take-away stores and a great pizzeria for convenient food options.
